Photography and Videography

Committee/Council Description:
The Photography & Videography Committee photographs all of the Junior League of Jackson’s projects, fund development events, committees, and activities for use by JLJ in various publications. Committee members will also use JLJ’s video equipment to videotape various JLJ events, community events, community projects, and community meetings, including but not limited to Provisional Super Saturday in Summer 2025 and Prospective Provisional Signing Day in March 2026. Training on the use of video equipment will be provided. Committee members will perform various duties as directed by the Photography and Videography Chair, Communications Vice President, and Communications Co-Chair.

Specific Job Responsibilities of Placement:
Photographers will coordinate, photograph, and video (if applicable) all JLJ projects, fund development events, committees at work, community events, and activities for use by various publications. Publications may include Monday Matters, the JLJ newsletter, Mistletoe Marketplace Magazine, JLJ archives, the JLJ website, as well as various promotions and other media formats/needs as they arise.

Committee Meeting Details:
As a volunteer on the Photography and Videography Committee project, you must meet the following requirements to complete your project placement and receive project credit for the year. If you have any questions or cannot meet the requirements as described, please contact the Placement Chair at placement@jljackson.org for further direction.

Note: The following list is an outline of the project requirements. As needs arise, this list may be modified or expounded upon in order to properly complete the project for the Community Partner.

  1. Attend project orientation.
  2. Complete your online placement evaluation upon project conclusion.
  3. Photograph various JLJ special events, community projects, and meetings throughout the year as determined by the Photography Chair (dates TBA). A wide variety of images are needed in order to depict events accurately.
  4. Follow all procedures for properly titling all photographs/videos, blurring name tags, checking in/out camera equipment, obtaining release forms, etc.
  5. Upload all photographs/videos taken to the proper Dropbox location within 24 hours of the event.

Important Information:
This placement is year-round, self-directed, and task oriented. Volunteers must be available to photograph and/or video events as they are scheduled, including all community projects, Mistletoe Marketplace, Touch A Truck® Jackson, Capitol Day, Day of Service, and a variety of meetings. This may include some weekday and/or daytime events.

An orientation and training (date TBA) on the JLJ camera and video equipment will be held prior to the start of the project.
