Play. Eat. Learn. is a series of evening programs with expert and specialist speakers presenting topics relevant to children’s health and well-being to attendees, including community members, professionals, and families. These programs take place once a month, likely on Tuesday evenings, during the school year. Prior to each discussion, dinner will be served to attendees. Children attending will be dismissed to the museum with JLJ volunteers for facilitated activities and play while caregivers attend the talk.

Specific Job Responsibilities of Placement:
Volunteers will make arrangements for dinner, assist with set-up and takedown of the meal, serve dinner, and interact with families. Volunteers will be responsible for compiling supplemental activities, sensory play, and books for playtime. After dinner, volunteers will serve as learning guides during the structured museum playtime, lead supplemental activities, and facilitate meaningful, hands-on play while caregivers attend the program. Other responsibilities may include compiling/logging registration information, tabulating survey results and reporting needed adjustments, promoting each month’s programs, and contacting community calendars.

Play. Eat. Learn. is a meaningful, fulfilling project where members will help to positively address children’s health and social development for families in the Jackson area through education and community collaboration in a safe, fun environment.
