NEW! BGCCM Poetry Café

Volunteers will help revise space to create Poetry Café at the Raymond Road Campus of BGCCM, the space will be used to assist in developing confidence through poetry, debate, spoken word, and mentoring. The Boys and Girls Club of Central Mississippi is the largest facility-based youth development program in the state.  Annually it serves over 2,200 children taking part in its youth development programs.

Specific Job Responsibilities of Placement:
Volunteers will help revise space to create Poetry Café at the Raymond Road Campus of BGCCM, the space will be used to assist in developing confidence through poetry, debate, spoken word, and mentoring. 

Committee Meeting Details:
As a volunteer on the BGCCM Poetry Café Makeover project, you must meet the following requirements in order to complete your project placement and receive project credit for the year.  If you have any questions or cannot meet the requirements as described, please contact the Placement Chair at placement@jljackson.org for further direction.

Note:  The following list is an outline of the project requirements.  As needs arise, this list may be modified or expounded upon in order to properly complete the project for the Community Partner.
  1. Attend project orientation.*
  2. Attend cultural competency training.*
  3. Complete your online project evaluation and online placement evaluation upon project conclusion.*
  4. Participate in and attend planning meetings within your specified project area as determined by the Chair (dates TBA).
  5. Determine and order all supplies and materials necessary to complete the project.
  6. Complete all the BGCCMS volunteer requirements, including volunteer application and background check.  Additionally, dress code adherence may be required.
