Lunch-n-Learn volunteers will support a summer camp with Stewpot Community Services. Camp volunteers will provide a summer camp for children ages 6-12 during lunch hours.   The project will provide a memorable, interactive, and educational summer experience that will center around nutrition and eating habits. The project is anticipated to be held between June 2 – July 17, 2025. Volunteers will be required to attend shifts as specified by the project chair to meet the needs of the community partner.

Specific Job Responsibilities of Placement:
Volunteers will work on three different summer initiatives, all with long-standing community partners, and are required to sign up for shifts with each initiative. In addition, volunteers may be asked to assist with other approved summer camps or summer projects as needs arise.

Insights and experience members will gain:
A desire to work and interact with children is necessary.

As a volunteer on the Lunch-n-Learn project, you must meet the following requirements to complete your project placement and receive project credit for the year. If you have any questions or cannot meet the requirements as described, please contact the Placement Chair at placement@jljackson.org for further direction.

Note: The following list is an outline of the project requirements. As needs arise, this list may be modified or expounded upon in order to properly complete the project for the Community Partner.

  1. Attend project orientation.*
  2. Attend cultural competency training.*
  3. Complete your online project evaluation and online placement evaluation upon project conclusion.*
  4. This is a summer-long camp. Volunteers must prepare for and attend shifts as directed by the project chair.
  5. Participate in and attend camp activities as specified by the project chair (dates TBA).

Orientation or Training Details:

  • Attend project orientation.
  • Attend cultural competency training.
  • Complete the online Serv Safe Food Training session. This training lasts approximately one hour.

Important Information:
The camp week will be held June 2 – July 17, 2025 over the lunch hours.  Volunteers MUST prepare for and attend shifts as specified by the project chair.
