USA IBC CityDance: Nurturing Healthy Habits & Reading Literacy

Committee/Council Description:
First Year Active Members Eligible
As CityDance enters its 23rd year, we remain committed to expanding and strengthening our programming in meaningful ways. This project aims to support both the student in the class as well as engaging the siblings of the students. Volunteers will setup and staff a reading room for siblings to spend time during class. By offering a clean, quiet space for siblings of CityDance students to work with JLJ volunteers in reading groups, or read with their caregivers, we can help families strengthen their bonds while supporting academic development outside of the traditional school setting. Many participants come from underserved communities where food insecurity is a concern. To help support students and families, volunteers will provide healthy snacks after each class..
